Sorry for the delayed response.
Right now there’s only a rather old implementation for HMD rendering (“View in VR” in the context menu of any viewport) using OpenVR (https://github.com/ValveSoftware/openvr). It has only been tested on the original Vive and it was quite some time since we did any work on it. Also there’s no input support, only rendering and HMD tracking. So yeah, not really production ready.
With that said, we’ve had multiple people pinging us about our VR/XR plans and I think we should set aside some time investigating an initial OpenXR bring up as that seems to be the way to go right now.
As we are a small team with a very ambitious plan I think the best approach right now would be to get a basic implementation up and running and then release that as a sample plugin for anyone to extend.
I will discuss with the rest of the team when in time we can get to that. Hopefully within a not too far away future.
